Every year on January 7th, fascists gather in Rome to commemorate the death of 3 fascist militants from last century.
in group they screm: PRESENTE to honor fallen militants and reinforce ideological unity. It originates from the Fascist era in Italy and remains a key element in neo-fascist commemorations today.
On site an unauthorized marble plaque has been installed, bearing an inscription glorifying the deceased as martyrs of "tradition and revolution", signed by "I Camerati" [fascist comrades]. The plaque is part of a broader effort by Italy’s far-right to rewrite historical memory and normalize fascist symbolism in public spaces. Its language and rituality echoes the rhetoric of Mussolini-era ideology; once upon a time a rethorical meeting point for minoritarian nostalgia, the commemoration is becoming incresingly relevant as a meeting point of hundreads of blackshirts and, far more dispecable, the center left opposition rapresentatives and the presence of institutional rapresentatives. The January 7th gathering itself remains a flashpoint of political tension, featuring fascist salutes, the "Presente" ritual, and explicit references to the dictatorship.
