Memorial Plaque to Rajko Lozo

This is a small plaque on relatively busy street in Zadar, Croatia. It is dedicated to Rajko Lozo, a Croatian soldier killed at this location during the siege of Zadar on 5 October 1991. Although the plaque is about the War of Croatian Independence, the text refers to the fallen soldier as a "Croatian knight, son of Ustaše" and promises to achieve the dream of the Independent State of Croatia (NDH, a WW2 fascist ally of the Axis powers). There is also the outline of the NDH engraved in the background of the plaque. According to the Croatian Constitution, the modern democratic Croatia is a result of the antifascist Partisan movement, not the quisling NDH.
